Basic Policy on Sustainability

Our Group's initiative structure related to sustainability

In June 2022, seeking to promote sustainability initiatives, the Group established a Sustainability Committee chaired by the Representative Director and President, as well as a supervisory system for the Board of Directors, and clarified the roles of the management.

・Supervisory system of the Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors is aware that addressing sustainability issues, including addressing climate change, is an important management issue, and established our Sustainability Committee in June 2022, which is chaired by the Representative Director and President, to promote management based on a sustainability perspective. At least once a year, the Board of Directors receives reports from the Sustainability Committee on sustainability issues, including matters related to climate change, and is strengthening its efforts to address sustainability issues.

・Role of the management

In addition, the Management Committee serves as an advisory body that assists the Representative Director in decision-making and whose members consist of full-time Directors, Executive Officers, General Managers, and Division Heads. It receives reports from the Sustainability Committee on sustainability issues, including matters related to climate change, as appropriate, and ensures that the upper management is unified and informed about important policies and measures related to sustainability issues.

・Sustainability Committee

In order to promote management based on a sustainability perspective, the Sustainability Committee holds discussions on topics and directions to be addressed over the medium to long term as a company, such as important sustainability important issues (materiality) including matters related to climate change and the related sustainability targets, and it also formulates company-wide policies and targets. In addition, the Sustainability Committee also establishes and maintains a system for putting these policies and targets into practice, and monitors the progress of the initiatives. Major matters discussed and decided upon by the Sustainability Committee are reported to as well as supervised and directed by the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors.

Risk management related to sustainability at the Group

Seeking to promote sustainability management, the Group identifies nine important issues (materiality) based on an analysis of business-related risks and opportunities. The Sustainability Committee plays a central role in avoiding, mitigating, and controlling risks regarding the important issues (materiality) that have been identified, as well as developing policies and measures to capture opportunities as quickly as is possible, and risk management is carried out on a group-wide basis by submitting reports to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee to receive approval, advice, and supervision.
